Beth El is a Conservative Jewish congregation founded in 1887, that actively serves the thriving Jewish community of Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. Our Expectations of the Director of Engagement:
• Strategy – Develop and implement engagement strategies for potential, new and existing members.
• Relationships - Create new initiatives to better connect members with one another. Spend time meeting with potential and existing members and volunteers one on one and in small groups.
• Membership engagement - Serve as a resource to the membership committee to assist in its work of identifying, recruiting, onboarding and retaining members.
• Programming and events - Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure that existing and new programs, including holiday activities, social action initiatives, social and educational programs, create opportunities for meaningful engagement, education, relationship building and Jewish inspiration.

Qualifications:
• Preferred experience: 5 years or more in Jewish organizational life, in the field of engagement, member relations, or programming
• Preferred degree: Masters in Jewish Communal Service, Informal Education, Social Work or related field, preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Standard technology skills (Zoom, Word, Excel, Google Suite and CRM)
• High standard of excellence, dedication, flexibility and a "do whatever it takes to accomplish the job" attitude.

Salary and benefits: $50,000 to $55,000 depending on experience and responsibilities. Vacation, health insurance, retirement plan, professional development, synagogue membership and religious school.
